How most things start at the moment - over Zoom!

and Maul Together was born!

It all begins with an idea.

Our founder members have been hugely inspired by some of the cases surrounding the Doddie Weir and Rob Burrows campaigns for MND. Some very moving documentaries and coverage from the BBC has been aired which have touched our rugby hearts. Doddie speaks a lot about how lucky they are to have an amazing network around them, which has come from their amazing playing careers. But he worries about the individuals facing similar battles without similar levels of team support around them.

So we decided to form - Maul Together. We decided that it was important to create a platform for us to continue working as a team after our rugby playing days are over. We have had some amazing years together, creating great playing memories and now want to do the same whilst raising money for some great causes.

We decided that our first challenge should be JOGLE - John O’Groats to Lands End cycle ride. We have a team of rugby players to take on this huge iconic challenge. Lets hope these boys can convert their rugby skills to become cycling pros in the 6 month window they have!

Dan’s first bit of stash starts arriving! Ummm maybe the first challenge will be to lose a bit of weight first!?

Lets see how this suit looks on Dan in July! Hopefully it’s not tighter!

Gareth after not being on a bike since 12 years old decides to take his mother in laws mountain bike for a spin!

Unfortunately a flat tire meant a very slow 2.5 miles around Bridgnorth.

The boys then started getting out a bit more starting with some laps around the Telford Halesfield estate at night whilst it was quiet (followed by a couple cold ones)!

Cal was dodging many messages to come out and blaming it on not having his cycling kit….

But it finally arrives……

Bish’s kit starts arriving too. The rest of the lads were all wondering why our kit doesn’t look as good as it does on Bish’s!?!?!?!

But we feel better when we remember Bish will be riding on a girls purple bike!

The weather has been a bit tricky during Jan but we are all determined!

Nothing will get in Gitts’s way who’s been getting the miles in even in the snow!
